The End of Day 1 at Great Grandma Jane's

Normally when visiting Woodsfield we've all experienced boredom shortly after arriving.  This trip is different in so many ways.  First, it's the first time I've travel to Ohio with Dad, Sue, Jason and Michelle.....ever.  If there was a prior time, I certainly don't remember it.  Second, we all know our days and opportunities to spend time with Grandma Jane are numbered.  Even though a few of her sister's lived to be 100+, Grandma will still be 96 this year.
After spending all day Wednesday in the car driving to Ohio and at least Michelle and I didn't get much sleep last night, combined with packing up and driving to Woodsfield, unpacking upon arrival, spending time with Grandma, exploring the school, discovering family history it was a full day.  At one point in the afternoon between helping to clean up documents and washing Isaac's bottles we noticed it was very quiet.  Grandpa John and Isaac were bonding during nap time.

Grandma really enjoyed seeing Isaac.  As for Isaac, he was a good little boy.  Even though he may be reserved when he's in a new environment or around different people, I was super proud of his ability to adapt.  When I started to break things down for the evening and load the car so we could return to the hotel dad had taken Isaac back to see Grandma Jane in her bedroom.  I was in the living room and heard Isaac scream.  The neighbors must have thought someone had just stabbed the poor thing.  Dad came out with Isaac and told me what happened.  Well, Grandma Jane had gone to bed and since dad was holding Isaac she reached out to cuddle his foot.  It must have scared Isaac.  And, if I look at the situation from his perspective I can't say I blame the poor thing.  When Grandma Jane goes to bed, she takes her wig off, and her teeth out.  From Isaac's view, this was not the same person that he had been interacting with all day.  Let's just say that was the indicator it was time to go for the day, so we loaded up and headed back to St. Clairsville.

Isaac did take a power nap on the way back but given all of the interaction of the day combined with the previous days travels he was exhausted.  I attempted to give him a quick bath but since he screamed through the entire thing it was a very quick bath.  Okay, no worries, nothing a fresh pair of pajamas and a bottle won't fix.  As soon as he was clean, warm, with a full tummy I thought for sure he would fall fast asleep.  Nope.  Even after moving the pack-and-play in between the beds so he could see mama and auntie, he wasn't interested.  At 9:31 pm he refused to sleep.

At 9:56 pm, he wanted to stand up and scope things out....

Then he decided he wanted to investigate his pack-and-play and figure out what he way laying on.....

Even with all the lights out and my back turned to him, he wasn't interested in sleeping.  Instead he thought it would be great fun to pull mama's blankets.  It was hard not to laugh at his giggles.  The last time I had to sleep with Isaac in a hotel room he was only three months old.  Finally at 10:49 pm he passed out!
