The last week or so Isaac's been pulling at the velcro straps on his shoes, taking them off as soon as they're put on and just fussing with his feet in general. The thought finally hit me that I needed to check to see how they were fitting and sure enough his little toes were at the end and even in the width they were very snug.
Since we have some fun outdoor activities planned this little guy needed some shoes that were more comfortable and fit properly.
Off to the shoe store we went to have his feet measured. One foot is slightly bigger than the other and since he's still toeing in a bit on his right foot I wanted to make sure he had a really good pair of shoes. What I didn't expect was hearing his new shoe size. Size 6. His old shoes were two sizes too small! No wonder he kept fussing with his feet!
We picked out a couple different pairs to try on.
While we were waiting we let Isaac try on a pair of Elmo slippers. While they were super cute, they had just a bit too much padding in the bottoms. He could stand in them but he sure couldn't walk in them. Novelty slippers will have to wait until he's a bit bigger.
He did try on a pair of Elmo sneakers and as cute as they were we decided to go the more practical route with a pair of neutral shoes. When he's old enough to ask for novelty shoes then we'll consider them. He certainly liked holding the Elmo sneakers though.
What a different a new pair of shoes make. I absolutely couldn't get over how much of a big boy he looks with new shoes. His feet looked so much bigger. No more baby feet and I think it made me a bit sad. I know he's growing and will continue to grow but with each passing stage he's more and more of a little boy and leaving all the baby behind.
The great thing...his new shoes are so much easier to get on and off. :)
