It was one of those days and Isaac and I needed to get out of the house. I also, really, needed to do some shopping and find some shorts. So, I devised a plan, met up with my shopping buddy Jennifer and off to the mall we went.
Shopping with a little one can be challenging. It's challenging when they're tiny and confined to their carriers as many dressing rooms aren't suited for strollers. When I was able to find ones with strollers as soon as I was in the process of trying something on, Isaac would begin to fuss and of course that was usually the indication it was time to go. So, this time I wasn't sure what to expect since he usually doesn't tolerate being confined to his stroller for too long unless its in continuous motion.
Of course, as soon as I had selected a few items to try on and was ready for the dressing room there were none big enough for a stroller. Since I could hardly leave him unattended in the stroller outside of the dressing room the only option left was to take him and out bring him in with me. Well, he thought this was a brilliant plan!
There was a floor length mirror that provided oodles of fun. Another recent fascination of Isaac's is opening and closing doors. Well, this was even better. He didn't have to open the door at all. All he had to do was crawl underneath it! Thank goodness Jennifer was in the room right next to me since, of course I was partially undressed and my son quickly crawled out of reach, under the door and luckily under Jennifer's door. Fortunately we were the only two in there, at first. There was soon another woman in the dressing room that Isaac didn't mind. He decided to venture into that room too and see who the feet beneath the door belong too. What is a mama to do other than apologize profusely! Isaac, however, had a blast!
When he wasn't crawling under doors he was either playing with the mirror or dumping out the contents of the diaper bag. Isaac discovered the fun of mama's wallet and dumping out all the change and pulling out the check book.
By the time we were done he was exhausted. I took him straight home for his bottle and bed. He slept like a log!
