Painting & Planting

It's only July 2nd and summer is here.  This morning the boys and I went to a local nursery to pick out some plants for the patio.  It was extremely hot out so we picked up some ice cream on our way home.  Then it was time for a fun activity.  Painting!

I had plenty of pots on hand so I decided to pull the paints out for Isaac and I to jazz them up.

Isaac was a great little helper and he put his painting smock to use as he painted with all the bright colors.  After naps the pots were dry and the sun had moved to the front of the house so it was time to start potting on the back deck.

I figured Isaac would enjoy playing in the dirt and my assumption was correct.  We each had our own spade to fill the planters up with posting soil.  It was fun working together with Isaac and explaining the process.

He was very careful in taking the plants out of their containers and he even helped me break up the roots before planting.

We laid out of all of our plants with the pots we had available and before we knew we were out of potting soil.

Once the marigolds were planted they were put in the planter boxes and watered.  We got one of the two citronella plants and half of the petunia's planted then it was time to clean up for the day.

Isaac helped with clean up although I think the majority of the soil ended up on him somehow.

Once we had everything cleaned up we made a list of the additional items needed to finish our project.  After all of our hard work painting we didn't have anything to put in them.

The final project of the evening though was giving this sweet boy a bath!
