Grandma Time

Grandma and Grandpa were in town and dropped by for a visit.  Isaac loved being tossed around and picked up. He's struggling to understand why I can't let him climb all over me and why I don't pick him up and swing him around lately.  Even though I explain it's only temporary he doesn't understand.  So the extra playtime with grandma Sue today was appreciated I'm sure.

Isaac certainly enjoyed the ride.  :)

Mr. Mischievous

This morning Isaac was determined to figure out zippers.  He's been fascinated with zippers on jackets for awhile but this morning was his first attempt at giving it a try himself.  I'd say he was fairly successful given his progress and his look of intense determination.

Once the day got started he was on to other things like destroying an entire box of tissues.

He had a messy lunch which resulted in a wardrobe change especially since I had an OB appointment for my 16 week checkup.  Mama and baby got a clean bill of health and everything is progressing as it should.  Then it was home to fix dinner.

Dinner time was more fun for Isaac this evening.  Papa's been working on his first wood working project and made Isaac his very own tower.  Now he can stand at the counter and participate in meal times safely.

He loves his new tower!  And papa did a fabulous job!

Sick Boy

No one likes to be sick and not feel well and Isaac is no exception.  He had a rough week to say the least.  What started out as simple congestion on 2/18 led to a runny nose.  His mood started changing and I could tell his energy was fading and then whimpering started.  The congestion didn't go away and the poor thing couldn't breathe very well especially for naps and bed time.  One minute he wanted to be held, then he wanted down for a few minutes then he wanted to be held again.  Isaac just couldn't decide what he wanted.

He had a day where he refused to nap.  Despite several attempts he went on a full blown nap strike which was not good.  He was sick, cranky and over tired but more than anything he was restless and couldn't get comfortable.  On 2/21 the stinker was up all night but awake the next morning at 8:00 am.  Only he woke with a fever.  I went on a Tylenol run and picked up some Pedialyte popsicles too.

I hate it when he doesn't feel well but I have to admit I loved all the cuddles.  At one point I thought his fever had broke and we were over the worst of it it.  He did okay with the popsicles and had a burst of energy.

He certainly didn't pass on enjoying his favorite snack of grapes or dumping them all over the floor.  He's still working on the walking and balancing a bowl full of snacks.  While I prefer all snacks to stay in the kitchen he tends to sneak away on me. :)

The night of 2/22 he was miserable, couldn't sleep and his fever kept creeping up all night.  He was so miserable I slept on the floor of his room so I could stay close.  I tried everything to comfort him.  Around 6 am papa got up to give it a try.  At that point we all caught a couple of hours of solid sleep.  But Isaac's fever hadn't dropped so I called the pediatrician's office as soon as they open and we took the first available appointment.  He was tested for strep and the flu and both were negative.  We were told a bug was going around but if he wasn't better on Monday to bring him back in.

On Monday 2/25 he was finally sleeping through the night although his mood wasn't reflective of someone who was well rested.  :(

Some rest and TLC was still in order to get this little guy back to full health.  By the end of the day he finally made the turn and my little man's smiles had returned.

It was a long week but he pulled through.  He was ready to play again. :)

Ba-Boom Blocks

Isaac is still learning how to play with blocks in terms of building structures.  However he loves to dump the basket of blocks and say "Ba-Boom"!

Happy Boy

The genuine joy in this little boy is magical and contagious.  The light in his eyes, the glow in his smile combined with the melody of his giggles and laughter can brighten anyone's days.  Isaac, I hope this is an inner essence that remains with you throughout your life!

He loves to walk around in our shoes and today's pic was mama's shoes and of course his favorite fireman's hat.  He shuffled around from toy to toy and room to room.

I could sit and watch him play for hours!  There's always a new discovery and something that makes him giggle.  He's a little boy with a very sweet soul.  :)

Playtime at the Park

We took advantage of the sunny day and spent some time this afternoon at the park.  Isaac had a ball playing on the slides and running around.  I sat at the top of the steps and helped him sit down before going down the slide.  He went down the slide, climbed the steps and then down again countless times.  He filled the air with his laughter which is a sound I'll never get enough of.  :)

When the sun started to go down a chill quickly set in.  Isaac's hands felt like ice cubes and his cheeks were a nice rosy red but he did not want to leave!  Eventually I had to pick him up and we headed towards the car with him kicking, screaming and lurching out of my arms.  We parked on the far side of the park and it's a decent walk with a cooperative toddler let alone one who's protesting.  So we stopped and I thought perhaps if I pulled out puppy and binky that would appease his attitude.  Nope.   He went into a full meltdown and threw himself on the ground and wouldn't get up!

I had to pick him up and carry him the entire way to the car.  His message was heard loud and clear by everyone around that he was not ready or interested in leaving the park!

Valentine's Day

We had a big day planned and I wanted to start the day off with a bit of fun for Isaac.  When he woke up, I got him dressed and let him open his door to find a heart path to the top of the stairs.  I wish I had a camera on me when he saw the first heart. His face lit up and he knelt down, picked the first heart up and flipped it over.  There was nothing there.  Apparently he was expecting something.  So, he did the same with the next one. I've made a mental note for next year to include smily faces or little notes of some sort.  :)

Since Isaac loves balloons when he followed his heart path to the top of the stairs he instantly notice the balloons at the bottom of the stairs.  It was so worth it for his giggles.

I made heart shaped blueberry pancakes for his breakfast and extras for the play group.  Along with an assortment of festive treats and snacks for the kiddos and of course coffee and tea for the mama's.

I wanted to make a small valentine for the kids as well and found several ideas but settled on bubbles, Isaac's favorite.  I attached a small note on each one "Blowing Valentine Kisses Your Way...Happy Valentine's Day".

We hosted a craft activity before but this was the fist time actually hosting for play time.  I wasn't sure how Isaac would handle sharing his own toys.  But he did very well.

The mom's got a chance to visit while the kiddo's got a chance to play. :)

And...the aftermath wasn't as bad as I anticipated.

Overall I was very pleased.  Isaac had a great time followed by a nice long nap and I had every thing cleaned up and put away in less than 20 minutes.

To top off the day I received the sweetest message from Frazer since he was traveling again.  Last year he was in Australia and this year he was in Florida.

"We've been married for almost two years now, and i'm sooo proud of you.   You're a wonderful wife and a great mother.  Isaac is such a lucy boy, and poppet will be so lucky to have you as a mother.  I love you so much, and I'm sorry that we haven't had a valentine's day together yet.  But you need to know that I'm thinking about you all today, and I love you so much."

All I know is I'm one lucky gal and I'm surrounded by love. <3

We're hosting a playdate for Valentine's Day and it had been awhile since I had baked any cookies and this was the perfect opportunity.  Of course I had the perfect helper too and Isaac approved of the cookie batter.  I think he'll be my official taste tester of all cookie batter.  I don't think he'll mind the task either.

We had so much fun making cookies.  This was such a special moment of motherhood that I thoroughly enjoyed.  Messy kitchen and all.  :)

Another Hair Cut for Isaac

Isaac and I took a trip to the barber shop again today.  It's amazing how quick his hair is growing.  He's just an amazing little boy.

A Day of Fun

It was a nice sunny day so we ventured out to the outlet shops north of us.  While we were there Isaac spotted one of the coin operated rides.  While we were waiting on papa to pay I figured I would keep Isaac occupied and we walked outside the store and over to one of the rides.  He loved playing with the steering wheel.  A bit later there was another ride and Isaac probably wouldn't like it once the ride was turned but he kept playing with the steering wheel so I thought I would give it a whirl and popped two quarters in.

Just as I thought, as soon as the ride started he wanted off, immediately.

So, we stood there and watched the ride.....ride away with an empty passenger.  :)

Later that evening it was date night!  It was the first date we had in months and we went to Ray's for dinner and of course it was fabulous.

Dessert was absolutely divine and it was a good thing I was eating for two.  :)  I was so full I could barely move afterwards but the taste was just to fabulous to turn down.  We followed up dinner with a movie and were home by 10:30 to relieve the sitter.  I'd say it was a great day.  :)

Big Boy Burger

Since it was Friday I declared a strike against cooking dinner so we had a family night out.  Isaac enjoyed his "big boy" burger and the fact we didn't make him sit in a highchair.  He loved being able to play in the booth and exercise some freedom to explore.

Little man is growing up.  he's such a cute little toddler.  :)

Consignment Finds

One of the events with the mom's group with a local consignment sale.  I decided to load Isaac up and venture out to see if there was anything we couldn't live without.  The consignment sale was in a big empty space with sections of clothes, shoes, toys....

The toy section caught Isaac's attention....

He found a work table he played with several times....

Then he checked out the wheels.  He sat on a few different tricycles but then moved on.

Then he found a little house set up that he fell in love with.

And of course as soon as he found the firman's hat and pack he wouldn't take it off.   We looked around for a bit the entire time with Isaac wearing the fire hat.

Isaac couldn't wait for the new house to come inside and as soon as I wiped it down and cleaned it off real well I turned him loose.  He was very happy.

And he's such a cute fireman.  I'd say it was a successful trip!

Spaghetti Fun

Isaac had fun with his spaghetti tonight.  There are no other words to describe his experience.  He's just too cute!

Toddlers and Buttons

Having a toddler running around the house truly is a wonderful experience.  There are so many opportunities on a daily basis to experience the world through his eyes and experience what he sees.  Most of the time its the joy and wonder of hearing an airplane fly overhead and watching his eyes widen as he listens carefully and then makes the sign for airplane.  Or realizing the ease of pulling the gate at the bottom of the steps needs felt added to the bottom to prevent the scratching sound on the floor.

This evenings experience wasn't new.  Isaac has been doing this for awhile but lately it's becoming more and more frequent and I hit a breaking point.  It's a plea to the makers of appliances.  Why in the world is the "lock" button at the bottom of the panel and reachable by toddlers!

There's nothing like going to the refrigerator with a glass and pressing the panel for water only for nothing to happen and discover the lock is on.  Or to open the doors when loading the refrigerator with groceries and the alarm sounds to indicate the doors have been opened too long.  Isaac has reset the indicator on when the filter needs to be changed, changed the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer compartments, turned the lights on and off, changed the alarm settings and lock settings.

The problem.....he presses buttons until he's satisfied his button pressing urge.  I, on the other hand, then have to figure out how to reprogram everything or wait until Frazer come's home to reset everything. Oh, how I love having the fridge reprogrammed!
