Isaac's First Haircut!

For the last several nights Frazer and I had both been noticing how long Isaac's hair had grown.  After baths it was becoming harder to brush his hair out and it looked like a mullet was starting to take shape.  So, last night I attempted to trim him hair.  Trimming hair isn't a problem unless it's a moving target. After two or three snips I decided it was best to give up.  This was not a battle I was going to win and it wasn't worth the risk of causing injury.

So, this evening we ventured out and made a trip to the same Barber Shop papa uses.  It was time for Isaac's first haircut.  They got out the booster seat but as soon as I attempted to sit him down he clung to me in protest.  So, the next best alternative was for him to sit on my lap.  The next step was placing the little apron around him.  It was bright and cheerful with fun little penguins on it.  We thought it was fun but Isaac didn't like being covered up especially since he was trying to eat a snack cracker.  Once he could see his hands he was much better.

The lady that cut his hair was super patient.  Isaac was actually great too.  He didn't get upset or cry.  He just kept looking around and was more interested in what she was doing so he kept trying to look.

An instant distraction for Isaac is a phone.  That was the missing ingredient to keep his attention which also helped him keep his head tilted down.  Having a mirror across from him also helped since he loves to look at his reflection.

Papa was great at keeping Isaac's attention too.  And before we knew it his hair cut was all finished.  Amazing what a little trim can do.  He looks like a little boy.

The big boy haircut is all complete.
