9 Months Old

Nine whole months of life!  Can you believe it?  Isaac, you continue to grow in leaps and bounds.  You are more self confident with each passing day as you continue to develop and improve your balance as well as your independence.  You love pulling yourself up on anything you can get your hands on.  Early on I would watch as you steadied your hands making sure you had a good grip, you diligently maneuvered your feet into the perfect position and then you were up and standing.  Mission accomplished........or so you thought.  You were so determined to stand nothing was going to get in your way but once you were on your feet you would look at me in a complete state of panic as if your entire body was sending the message....help me, help me....I can't fall down!  It was though you had climbed the tallest mountain and once you were standing on the peak looking at the valley below realized there was no strategy for getting back down and you couldn't go back the same way you came up.  In a matter of days you figured out how to balance your weight and transition from one object to the next and before we knew it you had figured out how to "fall down" all on your own.

Your coordination in crawling also steadily improved this month especially after your little bloopers moment in the kitchen when some how you managed to stumble over your own arm.  Your arm rubbed across the kitchen floor producing the same squeak as a sneaker making a sudden stop on a basketball court.  You stumbled head first over your arm landing headfirst into the kitchen table.  It's a moment I certainly wish would have been captured on video because there is no way that little acrobatic event could be repeated. Some how there was a hidden lesson for you and from that moment forward the pickup of your hands and the quickness in your crawling was never the same.  As your mama, I was there to comfort and kiss your boo-boos and gave you lots of hugs until you felt better. I'm always amazed and proud of how quickly you brush off a little set back and then you move along with your day.

Your nine month check-up was painless since there were no immunizations this time.  You've remained in the 50th percentile for weight....weighing in just under 20 lbs.  There was a drop in height from the 95th to the 90th percentile in height measuring at 29 3/4 inches.  Of course the weight and height combination are posing a challenge when it comes to clothing.  It's amazing at nine months old, you're wearing 18 month onsies and rompers, 12 month t-shirts and while they're a bit big in width the issue is finding shirts long enough to hang past your waist.  As for pants and shorts your still in 9 months.  Isaac my dear you are long and lean and I love every square inch!

There is a remaining mystery around your eye color.  The pediatrician was even surprised.  The very center of your eyes are a hazel/brown surrounded by blue. There are days when your eyes are blue as the ocean and others they're as brown as cinnamon.  The same is true for your hair.  If the sunlight hits your hair from just the right angle your hair is blonde and in other lighting it's auburn.  What ever the outcome I love being able to watch you grow and evolve as you become the person you are destined to be.
