Caution: Toy Zone Ahead

The thought of adding safety signs in our home had never occurred to me as a potential necessity until Isaac was mobile.  I can barely remember the last time Isaac was stationary.  Had I known then it would be the last time he would remain in one position until someone moved him I would have cherished it a bit longer.  No looking back now, those days are long gone.

Now, from the time he's up in the morning until bedtime, with the exception of naps, he's on the move.  He can traverse the room in 0.2 seconds leaving a trail behind him.  Anything within his reach is now fair game.  Safety signs could be beneficial.......

"Slow Walker In Use"
--Translation-- A walker device is in use by a student walker.  The vehicle is clearly marked.  Proceed with caution.  When in close proximity, shoes are advisable.

"Caution Crawler Ahead"
--Translation-- There is a moving object ahead that may not be visible.  Proceed with caution, crawler has right of way.  No need to panic in the event of a sudden tug of pant legs.  Fitted pants with secure waist bands advisable.

"Toy Zone Ahead"
--Translation-- Objects of all sizes ahead.  Potential trip hazards.  Proceed at own risk.

And if that wasn't bad enough, given Isaac is attempting to pull himself up on anything he can establish a firm grip with, we went shopping for a new toy!  I had to officially say goodbye to the mamaRoo and pack it up since it really wasn't designed as a pull-up bar.  So, we ventured out with one particular item in mind designed to help him pull up, stand up and play while also building his balance.  They really were the best of intentions.......but.....after stocking up on some additional solid foods, finger foods and three toys later.....we finally left.  :)

One little item was fairly innocent.  Every little guy needs to have a set of stacking rings in bright colors.  So far he loves pulling all the rings off the base.  Putting them back on in order is another story.....he'll have to develop that skill over time.  And.....since we still use the pack-n-play I came across the perfect toy I just couldn't pass up.  Oh.....the weakness I apparently have....

He loves the bright colors and textures of this item.  And when you pull the penguin it makes noises!  I'm hoping this will help keep Isaac occupied for longer periods of time when he's in the pack-n-play so mama can get some things done without the little one under foot.  So far so good!

Okay, so we were a bit distracted when we were shopping but we did accomplish the mission.  Isaac could barely contain himself while I was extracting the contraption from the packaging.  It's full of bright colors and makes lots of fun sounds and music.  The great thing is the legs easily go on and off the table. Once it was all set up he went right to it and pulled himself up to investigate and check it all out.  Overall I would say it was a good day!
