Fun Times in the Kitchen

Today Isaac started covering more distance with his army crawl.  Just a few short days ago he could would only navigate the perimeter of the family room.  Well, today he decided he was up for more of an adventure and before I knew it he had made his way down the hall.

Periodically as he wiggled his way across the floor he would look behind him for a quick glance to make sure I was watching him and he would grin with amusement.  When he turned the corner I got up to follow him and asked him where he was headed.  He replied with a grunt.  He wiggled a little further, turned his head towards me, yep mom's still there, then off he continued.  His destination....
the kitchen.  Initially I wasn't sure what entertainment would be found, perhaps a few cabinets to bang his hands on.  The knobs are all too high for him to reach so I wasn't sure that he would be able to get any of the cabinets open, at least not yet.  No, he wasn't interested in cabinets.  Isaac was interested in one particular item that was hanging off the knob of one of the pantry cabinet doors.  He went straight for it as if that was his plan of exploration all along.  He was fascinated!

What could be so interesting to a 7 month old that hangs off of a kitchen cabinet you ask?  Well, it's a navy and white striped cloth bag with elastic at the top and bottom for recycling plastic grocery bags.  I think there was a plastic grocery bag hanging out of the bottom that caught his attention.  I think.  I'll never know exactly what drew him to this captivating object but it doesn't matter, in his world it all made sense.  He knew there was something inside this strange object.  He was determined to reach and stretch to get his tiny hand engaged with the object emerging from this strange contraption.  At this point, I was equally amused by his curiosity so of course I joined him on the kitchen floor.  Yes, it was more of a one sided conversation in terms of the basic exchange of words one typically experiences in a conversation.  Isaac may not have words but he was quite skill in sharing his thoughts with his facial expressions, grunts and babbles.  I'm also guilty of showing him how to pull out the first couple of bags but he thoroughly enjoyed the experience and after a couple he started to get the hang of it.  It was a great way to spend the morning!
